I went to my first slam in 2 years the other day here in Vancouver, and while I still adore words for their power and potential, I found it underwhelming to say the least. Marginalized circlejerk would be a really rude thing to say as a straight white male, so I'm not going to. Preachy choirs is probably better.<br /><br />I think you've hit the nail on the head however. As a musical artist with immense respect from other musical artists, but a rather lacklustre following outside of them, I'd take 1 new fan over a dozen respect dollars any day. Cross-medium collaboration is what really excites me lately, so one track from my forthcoming album will have a spoken word piece over top. I'll be performing it during the shows on tour, which should weird out a few rave hippies alright. <br /><br />Keep on keepin on! Sounds like you're figuring a few things out <3<br /><br />(p.s.
